RENDERING FROM A SUMERIAN CLAY TABLET SHARD
She took me to her bedroom
Her more than sleeping room
Gateway to heaven
She led me up winding stairs
Cool wrought iron spirals beneath my palms
DNA helix of our passion
She drew me through a door
Where plaster cherubs with rhinestone eyes
Winked me to enter
Portal to paradise.
She stood there smiling
Eyes that glittered
Lips that beckoned . . .
She stood there in her dressing gown
A softness and a color
I could not resist,
A wrapping more ardent than any
Childhood Christmas morning.
A bow at the bodice
That begged to be undone . . .
She stood there in her undressing gown
In her smiling, flowing colors
In her warmth and need and passion . . .
She stood there smiling.
White roads to enchantment
She stretched out her arms to me.
Palms open with invitation
She stretched out her arms to me.
Fingers, glorious for touching
She stretched out her arms to me.
