SONG OF THE OCULIST

SONG OF THE OCULIST

         Stars in windblown guesses caress

            fingers

         In their far-flung shining--

         Truth

            In laughter as

         Rainbow bastioned mountains piled,

         I kiss your naked shadow.

         Lady in earnest

Let me wrap your heart in ermine.

         Childhood ice cream candles burn

            Flickering

         Birthday-like joy behind your eyes.

         Lady of Substance

I would like to cloak you in

            Purest sable

         Or muffle in mink

         Your hands, worshipful fingers

            Flinger of stars

         Weaver of moonbeams and rainbows--

         Lady of Compassion

A wind blows roaring through me

         Fanning my campfire heart

--Let me wrap you in earnest.
